Today, November 19, a large number of employed and retired oil workers from companies in southern oil-rich regions gathered in Ahvaz city to pursue their demands. In this large protest gathering, the workers clapped and chanted their protest slogans against poverty and the worsening of their living conditions and against embezzlements and thefts by the officials and the government’s livelihood attacks.
In this regard, today the formal workers of Aghajari Oil and Gas Exploitation Company as well as the official workers of the Falat E Ghareh Company gathered in Siri Island.
The complete removal of the salary ceiling, the removal of the limitation of retirement benefits, the return of excess tax deductions, and no theft from the pension fund of oil workers are among the urgent demands of these workers. In this large gathering, the workers announced their solidarity with other sections of the retirees by shouting “Employed and Retired Unite!” and by this slogan raised the banner of working class unity at the national level.
Protests in oil industry are widespread in Iran these days. These workers should be widely supported.
