A statement on the anniversary of the “woman, life Freedom” revolution

سالگرد.jpgWe together with all the people, celebrate the anniversary of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” Revolution. September 16 is the anniversary of a revolution that erupted following the brutal murder of Mahsa Amini for compulsory Islamic hijab, by the Islamic “moral police”. With this crime all the people, angry from 44 years of crimes, Islamic compulsory laws, corruptions, embezzlements, discriminations, executions, and prisons, came to the streets and shouted for the overthrow of the Islamic regime. This is a revolution against discrimination against women, poverty and lack of security, and against the looting and oppression by the ruling tyrants. A revolution that expressed itself in three words, “woman, Life, Freedom”, and was able to attract the widest global support.

The Islamic regime did a lot of repression and crimes to push back the revolution. But now, in anniversary of the revolution, anti-government protests are going on in all corners of the society, even inside the prisons. The atmosphere of oil centres is inflamed. Different sections of retirees in their weekly gatherings turn the streets into their protest scene and call people to unite against poverty and corruption. In a big factory like Arak machine manufacturing, 2000 workers have been on strike since one month ago. Numerous statements condemning the Islamic regime and defending the demands and values of the revolution have been published by various organizations and sections of the people, calling the people to continue the revolution to the end.

The revolution in Iran has managed to attract the attention of the world. In a statement issued on August 30 against the pressure on the families of the victims, Amnesty International has called for the arrest of the officials of the Islamic regime and asked all governments to use “universal jurisdiction” and for the authorities of the Islamic Republic “including those who are responsible and have a commanding position ” and “are suspected of criminal responsibility for crimes committed according international laws during or after the uprising, to issue an arrest warrant”. The US Congress of Representatives passed a law called the Mahsa Act with approval of overwhelming majority of representatives of both the democrats and the republicans, and condemned the Islamic regime authorities and proposes sanctions to be used against the heads of the Islamic government. Many labor unions have condemned the Islamic regime for violating the most basic rights of workers and people.

Today, Iranian people need the most international support. In the course of this revolution and the year that has passed, the Islamic government has committed many crimes. According to reports, from 26 September to 20 January 1401, at least 540 people were killed by government bullets, 74 of them children. And most of the murders took place in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchistan and Kurdistan. In addition, thousands of people have been arrested and imprisoned. This government blinded a large number of protesters by shooting directly into their eyes. It subjected the prisoners to the most brutal tortures. It abused them. It stopped the medicine and treatment from them. It registered the prisoners as psychotic patients and gave them psychotropic drugs to the point where some prisoners committed suicide after their release. 7 of protesters were executed only for the crime of protesting, and after the protests subsided, the killings continued on the streets. Even now, as the anniversary of the revolution approaches, the repressions have intensified. The government in reality has imposed a state of martial law by deploying many repression forces in the streets. A large number of teachers, labour activists, women activists, students and professors, lawyers, doctors, artists and filmmakers, and activists from different parts of the society have been prosecuted and security cases have been filed against them and orders of expulsion and dismissal used against them. Many have been arrested and the prisons are full of protesters. The pressure in the prisons has also increased.

Free Them Now (FTN) campaign to free jailed workers in Iran, in solidarity with all Iranian people, honours the anniversary of woman life freedom revolution and the memory of Mahsa Amini. FTN calls on all unions and labour and humanist organizations around the world to support the people of Iran and their revolution at this critical moment, to get rid of the hell of the Islamic regime. FTN emphasizes a nationwide protest in Iran and in the world for the release of all political prisoners, and to stop repression and executions. The global boycott of the Islamic Republic is an important step in overthrowing this regime of crime and oppression.
