Names of Imprisoned Labor Activists
According to a report published by the Coordinating Council of Cultural Associations, Hossein Vahidi (Dariush Ashkani), inspector of the Teachers’ Association of North Khorasan, has been sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Bojnourd. The charge against him is “propaganda against the regime.” The case will be reviewed in the appeals court following objections to this verdict.
The security pressures on teachers remain high. In its statement supporting this teacher, the Coordinating Council emphasized: “Issuing sentences like imprisonment will never stop advocacy and demands.” The Council also called for an end to the fabrication of cases against teachers.
Another report concerns Mohammad Davari, a labor activist, who was transferred from Adelabad Prison to the detention center of Shiraz Intelligence Department, known as “No 100,” on December 22, 2024. Since then, he has not been in contact with his family, raising significant concerns among his relatives and the public.
The Islamic government, fearing the resurgence of a more powerful revolution, is intensifying its repression. In addition to imprisoned teachers previously reported, several labor activists, defenders of workers’ rights, and retirees are currently in custody. The names of some of them include:
- Mehdi Jahangir
- Mohammad Davari
- Sharifeh Mohammadi
- Nahid Khodajo
- Esmail Gerami
- Reza Aghdasi
- Isa Ebrahimzadeh
- Ibrahim Madadi
- Davood Razavi
- Sepideh Gholian
- Raheleh Rahimi Pour
- Mehran Raouf
- Abbas Deris (at risk of execution)
The campaign against the criminalization of protests emphasizes the need to end the security-driven repression of labor struggles, close fabricated cases against workers, teachers, and activists, and secure the unconditional release of all detained workers, teachers, and political prisoners.
Free Them Now (FTN) the Campaign to Free Imprisoned Workers (Free Them Now) stands in solidarity with this broader movement, calling for the immediate and unconditional release of all workers, teachers, and activists.
