On Saturday, September 20, Ms. Nahid Khodajoo, a well-known and respected labor activist, received a warm public welcome in Sanandaj after her release from the women’s ward of Qarchak Prison in Varamin. She released on September 16, after one a half year in prison.
Khodajoo, a retired worker, has spent several periods of her life in prison over past decades. During her incarceration, she lost several family members without being allowed to attend their memorials.
Immediately after her release from prison, Khodajo paid tribute to the Woman, Life, Freedom revolution and emphasized the on the release of Veriesheh Moradi, and Sharifeh Mohammadi, who are facing death sentences.
Upon arriving in Sanandaj, she was accompanied by labor and social activists of the city. Before visiting her family home, she first paid tribute at the grave of her late mother — herself a fighter and a member of the Mothers of Justice — and at the grave of the late Mozafar Salehnia. She then continued on to her parental home.
While in prison, Khodajoo’s mother passed away. Security and judicial authorities denied her request for temporary leave to attend the funeral, preventing her from saying farewell to her mother.
