May Day is a symbol of sacrifice and struggle for workers’ rights
May Day, International Workers’ Day, arrives. The day is celebrated by all the workers of the world by raising banners that express their job demands and aspirations, and this day is a very important day for the workers (whether they do physical work or those whose work is intellectual).
In Iraq, we celebrate this day by remembering the suffering, the persecution and the violation of our rights in all areas of work.
We celebrate this day when the labor law is not being enforced properly.
We celebrate this day, but we do not have a law on retirement and social security that guarantees our future.
We celebrate while we do not have health care and safety.
We are celebrating this day while the law on freedom of association is being violated for workers and employees, and these laws are only on paper.
As we live below the poverty line, we celebrate this day without permanent work and without social support.
Workers own nothing but the strength of their arms, the strength of their bodies, and their daily sale for the family’s livelihood.
The labor situation (labor market) has been affected by the political and economic conditions and the current crises in the country.
The Covi19 epidemic had a major impact on the labor market and the deteriorating economic situation, followed by the appreciation of the dollar, which worsened the situation due to rising raw material prices and the closure of some factories, leading to the dismissals and unemployment of many workers.
It goes without saying that there are many abuses of workers due to violations in the private sector and multinational companies that do not comply with international laws and standards due to poor law enforcement, corruption and ignorance of officials.
May Day arrives and we see workers defending their rights with their protests and going on strike for the livelihood of their families. This puts us in a better position than last year.
Not only have governments failed to create new job opportunities, but their actions, as a result of their misguided and failed policies and support for the private sector, have shut down most factories and destroyed industry and agriculture, leaving a huge army of unemployed.
Here I extend my sincere congratulations to all the Iraqi workers and employees who are working for a living, and on this occasion, I invite all of them to join the free and independent trade unions and elect their representatives from among them.
Creating trade unions, unity and solidarity is a necessity for us and this is the secret of our power.
We hold the government responsible for this situation, the lack of job opportunities and the creation of economic crises that have harmed the workers and their families.
My greetings to the workers of the world and Iraq on this occasion.
Proud and immortal are the workers who sacrificed their lives in defense of their rights.

اول ماه مه نماد فداکاری و مبارزه برای حقوق کارگران است
یک مه روز جهانی کارگر، از راه می رسد. روزی که توسط تمامی کارگران کشورهای جهان با برافراشتن بنرهایی که بیانگر خواسته ها و مطالبات شغلی آنهاست جشن گرفته می شود و این روز برای کارگران (چه آنها که کار فیزیکی میکنند و چه آنها که کارشان فکری است) روزی بسیار مهمی است.
ما در عراق این روز را با یادآوری رنج ها، آزار و اذیت ها و نقض حقوق خود در همه زمینه های کاری جشن می گیریم.
ما این روز را در حالی که قانون کار به درستی اجرا نمی شود جشن می گیریم.
ما این روز را جشن می گیریم اما قانونی برای بازنشستگی و تامین اجتماعی که آینده ما را تضمین کند نداریم.
جشن می گیریم در حالی که سلامت و ایمنی کار نداریم.
ما این روز را در حالی جشن می گیریم که قانون آزادی تشکل ها و انجمن های صنفی برای کارگران و کارمندان نقض می شود و این قوانین تنها بر روی کاغذ هستند.
ما در حالی که در زیر خط فقر زندگی می کنیم، بدون کار دائمی و بدون حمایت های اجتماعی این روز را جشن می گیریم.
کارگران مالک هیچ چیز نیستند جز نیروی بازوها، صلابت بدن، و فروش روزانه آن برای امرار معاش خانواده.
اوضاع کار (بازار کار) تحت تاثیر شرایط سیاسی و اقتصادی و بحران هایی که در کشور جریان دارد قرار گرفته است.
همه گیر کرونا تاثیر زیادی بر بازار کار و وخامت شرایط اقتصادی و به دنبال آن افزایش نرخ دلار گذاشت که به دلیل افزایش قیمت مواد اولیه و تعطیلی برخی از کارخانه ها اوضاع را بدتر کرد و منجر به اخراج و بیکار شدن کارگران زیادی شد.
ناگفته نماند به دلیل تخلفاتی که در بخش خصوصی و شرکت های چندملیتی رخ می دهد که قوانین و استانداردهای بین المللی را به دلیل ضعف اجرای قوانین، فساد و ناآگاهی مسئولان رعایت نمیکنند سوء استفاده های زیادی از کارگران می شود.
اول ماه مه می رسد و می بینیم که کارگران با اعتراضاتشان از حقوق خود دفاع می کنند و برای معیشت خانواده های شان دست به اعتصاب می زنند. این موضوع ما را نسبت به سال گذشته در موقعیت بهتری قرار می دهد.
در عراقدولت ها نه تنها نتوانستند فرصت های تازه شغلی ایجاد کنند بلکه با اقدامات شان و در نتیجه سیاست های غلط و شکست خورده آنها و حمایت از بخش خصوصی اکثر کارخانجات تعطیل و بخش صنعت و کشاورزی نابود شد به طوری که اکنون ارتش عظیمی از بیکاران ایجاد شده است.
صمیمانه ترین تبریکات خود را به همه کارگران و کارمندان عراق که برای تامین معاش تلاش می کنند، تقدیم می کنم و به همین مناسبت،، از همه آنها دعوت می کنم به اتحادیه های آزاد و مستقل کارگری بپیوندند و نمایندگان خود را از میان آنها انتخاب کنند.
ایجاد تشکل های صنفی، اتحاد و همبستگی برای ما یک ضرورت است و این راز قدرت ما است.
ما دولت را مسئول این وضعیت، کمبود فرصت های شغلی و ایجاد بحران های اقتصادی می دانیم که به کارگران و خانواده های آنها آسیب رسانده است.
درود بر کارگران جهان و عراق در این مناسبت جاودانه.
سرافراز و جاودانه اند کشته شدگان کارگر که در دفاع از حقوق خود جانشان را فدا کردند.
