Today, Tuesday, February 20, all sections of National Steel Industrial Group of Iran – Ahvaz are on strike. This united strike of several thousands of workers has taken place in protest to the management’s order to fire a number of protesting workers. According to the news published by the independent voice of workers of Ahvaz National Steel Group, in the past few days and following the protests of the workers on the non-acceptable way of implementing the job classification plan, a number of workers have been banned from entering the company and ordered to be fired by the company’s CEO and supervisor.. Dismissed workers have also been staged to a sitting protest in front of the entrance of the company by erecting a tent since yesterday 19th February.
The striking workers gave a strong response to the repression of the company’s ruling gang and the government authorities, by rallying, marching and shouting the slogans “Neither threats nor prisons are effective anymore” and emphasized the pursuit of their demands. The workers announced that they will continue their strike until all fired workers return to work.
